Terms of Use

BuffsCreate is a hosting service that allows Arts & Sciences students and faculty to create and share self-generated content online. BuffsCreate content can contain writings, multi-media works, photos, videos, collaborative assignments, projects, or reflective pieces, among other works. Each user is responsible for their content on BuffsCreate. It is your responsibility to ensure that you follow the guidance below when developing your BuffsCreate content. The Office of Information Technology will investigate complaints about the content of a BuffsCreate domain and may remove or limit access to BuffsCreate websites that violate local, state or federal laws and university policies.

Acceptable Use

Your use of BuffsCreate is governed by CU Boulder’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and the Honor Code. Review the AUP and Honor Code to learn how to use BuffsCreate ethically and responsibly.

Develop your content in a way that makes it accessible to everyone. As a general rule, that means meeting the WCAG 2.0 standard at the AA level as prescribed by the University Policy and Standards on Accessibility. The CU Boulder’s Accessibility Resources page provides a good starting point for understanding the expectations. For the most commonly used BuffsCreate applications such as WordPress, Omeka, Scalar, and Mediawiki refer to the BuffsCreate Application Accessibility Resources.

CU Boulder Brand

If you opt to use the CU Boulder logo, you must abide by the University’s design guidelines. Instructions on when and how to use CU Boulder’s logo, photos, colors, and more are outlined on the Brand and Messaging website.

While your content can be illustrative of your interests, your experiences, your learning and development, it should not convey the impression that you represent, are giving opinions or otherwise making statements on behalf of the University of Colorado Boulder, or any unit of the University.

Fair Use and Copyright

Follow university and legal standards regarding fair use and copyright when adding text, images, videos, and other information. Review the University Libraries resource on Copyright Information for guidance. Learn more about copyright and creative commons licensing.

Refrain from collecting, storing, transfering, or using personally identifiable information such as social security numbers on your website.
